Reading At Playtime
Early childhood sees the greatest growth and development when the brain matures to its fullest. Children prior to eight years of age are those who are usually included in this phase. Helping as well as encouraging children to learn during this period will lay the foundation for later learning.
Reading is an important macro skill because it develops and enhances all the other competencies. Reading is the avenue for limitless opportunities and is able to awaken hidden potentials and other talents of children even at a young age. Parents are advised to infuse in their children a true passion for reading.
Children taught to read early by their parents are not deprived of their normal childhood experiences.. Actually they are providing a privilege for their children to learn as well as have fun at the same time. Parent involvement is a must for early childhood education. It’s best if the parents look after their children through bonding with them; playing and laughing, reading books, dramatizing stories, knowing the objects inside the house, etc. These things will significantly affect the children’s future lives.
Reading to your children will make it easier for them to articulate words correctly and be aware of their phonics at young age through hands-on experiences in speaking as well as interacting. It’s like a blend of the whole-word approach and phonics because they see the words and as you read to them and they follow through their eyes, they will recognize the small units of sound in every letter. While you teach in a loving way, they will pose all the questions and they will learn and understand better. With your guidance, they will know the worth of education the way it comes through play then develops into a good habit.
Being aware of your child’s future included in your responsibilities as a parent. Education is an essential part of caring as well as nurturing for your children. It’s never too early to prepare them for their future. Developing their love for reading will assist them throughout their lives.
